Hi All,
Here is a link to a marked-up PDF of There is a Solution up to page 25:
#^https://drive.google.com/file/d/17bQexlpa44CUjuXWyxZVms6DswBm9R8q/view?usp=sharing This took me a bit longer than I had expected, so hopefully you have already been considering this part of the book on your own and this will give you some additional thoughts and ideas to consider. This is what I was thinking about this week, and what I wanted to share. As always please do not consider this a complete or authoritative exercise, use it as an example, and my guess is the most effective activity will most likely be your own experience with the book.
This part of the chapter has really not discussed the solution at all, and where I stopped on page 25 is where the discussion of the solution starts. Many people discuss this last part of the marked up section from the top of page 23, as the “mental obsession” part of the book (up to page 43). The mental obsession idea is what takes me back when I have stopped, rather than what I do once I start (after “academic and pointless”).
The book talks about many things before now other than the physical craving, and many things between here and 43 other than the mental obsession, so we will be considering all of what the book is talking about. I do think it is valuable to consider these two ideas specifically, and it is important to be clear about how they are showing up in my life with the items on my two lists and about whatever items I have a history of powerlessness with.
We are going to continue to move along with finishing There is a solution and going through all of More About Alcoholism (up to page 43) for next week.
