Michael,
Aye, in ancient times, when I joined the club, and when the majority of the boats in the club that were of one manufacturer, were made by MacGregor, the starts and finishes were actually taken by a club member stationed on the second floor patio of SMWYC. Back then, we even had a class for MacGregor X's and M's, the model that looked like it had a double deck superstructure, with a 50 HP outboard, could pull a water skier, and make it to Catalina in two hours, yet was a reasonably good sailboat if driven by a competent sailor. Where have all the MacGregors gone, long time passing? I had a dockmate who owned a new one, and perhaps inspired by the fun I was having with my Cal 24, traded up to a Catalina 270, got into racing, bought a Santana 30-30, then a Martin 242-because one design racing is most competitive, before he retired from sailing in his 80's. Did I digress?
